I hope they redesign the Carracks cargo bays sooner rather than later with such a focus on hauling for the next patch, just one large bay would be amazing rather than the three compartment things.
I wonder how player bases/homesteads would be protected from pirates / griefers. I really won't put much effort in those if some random player can come and loot or destroy everthing.
would guess homesteads are part 1 of bases, the main living area. After that then defenses and such. Though no ships in image..only a cargo container. A lonely cargo container.
Probably a minority here, but at this time player bases/homesteads are just a meh to me. I'll take a mobile base (aka ship) over a planet side thing with the current game.
I for one am not a big base building player and this will make no impact on how I play I would like to see player homes in major landing zones. The MMO style areas do look interesting but they will need to carefully look at how they can stop the griefing
I reckon Homestead will just be a 'house' for now.... Basebuilding will be mining, manufacturing, farming etc etc

I have trouble understanding how homesteading will work. It's like they say about real estate, they're not making any more land. They only show homesteads on microtech and not in the snow. Are they going to do like hangars and have it magically appear when you need it?
I'm hoping homesteads are gonna be a big change and act kind of like a base would in Dayz. Would be great to be able to raid and defend bases for some cool fights.
everything they are showing looks really cool. But i really do think this year is a watershed year for SC. if they don't stick the landing with this (now) 3.24 patch and get pyro out in some capacity, i think they'll lose a lot of good faith with more of the potential player base they've not grabbed yet.
oh cool, more feature creep that will push delivery of a minimum viable product back another year. I wouldn't mind if they started adding all this stuff once the game was in a playable state, but at this point they're basically picking the paint job for a car that crashed years ago.
All time fav is my C2, really do love the C1 also. Ares Ion used to be my goto ship for any/everything, but since they ruined the gun on it, I never fly it.

Im just still in love with the Constellations. Such a classic. And wow homesteads sound great but what about those ARMOUR STANDS! Personal Batcave anyone??
Actually building homesteads requires a crafting system, which does not currently exist, and it has to allow for a significant range of customizability.
Since they dont let us into the missile bay of the Idris as well, I feel like we could see the Idris and Polaris become playable at the same time once they figure out the gameplay they want for those rooms in capital ships. Because the Idris seems complete otherwise

I can't wait to try out the C1 and see how it compares to a Cutlass as a 1-man do-it-all fighter/hauler. That's my current favorite ship based on optimistic expectations.
The Caterpillar would be my favorite if the interior was better designed. The upper deck between the cargo modules and engine room is all wasted space. The engine room should be expanded to include the power generators and everything else up there should be made into a single, open crew habitation space. The habitation area on the lower deck should be repurposed into a workspace, like a salvage and repair workshop or something, with passthrough so cargo can be moved from the elevator to the cargo modules. The command pod needs to be detachable and the cargo modules need to be modular. Imagine what a great bomber the Cat would be if those could be replaced with bomb modules! Or how well it would fit that broadside brawler role CIG wanted if one or two could be swapped out for turret modules.
last I tried, half a year ago I couldnt even do a basic quest without bugging out and being able to finish. Wont come back until it is playable without constant frustration
Player bases could be cool. They need to be useful, though. CIG needs to figure out where people are going to be spending their time and why. Server meshing, NPC hirelings, crew roles, ship modularity/customizability and fun missions and gameplay loops are the most important features that need to be worked on right now, IMO.
If Homesteads are actually that close, that would be very surprising. But also very awesome. They need to keep adding more social features. They DEFINITELY need to add in-game support for Orgs/Clans.
uh the player homesteads sound interesting. looking forward how they integrate them. maybe we need to summon/call them on every server. Ah yeah Fav ship still the RSI Constellations :D

I've seen a couple of videos where people are following others onto their elevators due to desync and then killing them.
Hoping this isn't widespread, or that GIG makes the elevators an armistice zone the whole time.
